Overview of MyPFO

MyPFO, short for My Personal Financial Officer, was set up to meet the needs of mid-tier millionaires* as well as small to mid-sized businesses. MyPFO provides much the same function that a CFO provides to a large business but for individuals, families and businesses that simply cannot justify the expense of a dedicated financial team. MyPFO provides Accounting, Tax, Business Management and Advisory services and helps you manage and coordinate the activities of a variety of independent professionals you may already be working with (i.e., stock brokers, attorneys, insurance professionals, etc.) MyPFO responds to clients' personal and business challenges with an approach that ensures each client receives the highest level of quality service and that it is always the client's interests who are best served.

MyPFO's Tax services are designed to reflect the unique needs and objectives of each client, whether we are working with clients on tax compliance and planning or improving the quality of tax data obtained from the general ledger system. In practical terms, MyPFO works with clients to assist them in achieving effective tax compliance while managing tax risks and helping to control costs.

MyPFO provides Business Management services, advice and assistance to enable individuals and companies to manage their cash flow, mitigate risk, improve performance, and help maintain a steady course toward meeting their financial goals. MyPFO provides a wide range of services that can help clients manage their day-to-day finances, startup a new business, respond effectively to immediate needs as well as put in place the strategies for the longer term.

About the Founder

Prior to forming MyPFO, Mark was co-head of the Global Tax Systems Group in Merrill Lynch’s Tax Department where he was responsible for identifying and implementing technology solutions. Prior to Merrill Lynch, Mark was with KPMG for eleven years where he provided tax compliance and consulting services to clients. The first five years of his career were focused on building tax technical skills. He began integrating a technology emphasis into his career by joining a group responsible for developing tax-planning applications used internally by KPMG’s tax practice as well as applications licensed by clients. His application development experience provided the opportunity to develop skills and expertise using technology to efficiently bridge the gap between the financial and tax functions. These technology skills provided a foundation for assuming a leadership role in the KPMG’s Technology and Architecture Group with responsibilities for strategic planning and implementation of enterprise-wide technology infrastructure. The experience in the Architecture and Integration Group provided intense, hands-on technology training as well as leadership experience where he managed a team of technology architects and developers working with leading edge technologies in the areas of local and wide-area networking, email and telecommunications. While in this role, he managed the firm’s transition to a new electronic messaging platform, deploying Microsoft Outlook and Internet Explorer to a population of 24,000+ users. The culmination of these experiences at KPMG was realized when Mark co-founded the Tax Management Solutions Practice in the KPMG’s Northeast Region which provided value-added technology-based tax solutions primarily to large, multi-national corporate clients.
